Stepping down

The author of this blog has given me permission to post the things I wanted to say during BAGM but couldn't because I was joking too much to be serious.

Although I believe I had made a long enough speech, I just felt it wasn't prepare or organised at all. On top of that, I think I was too much of a joke to say anything serious. Haha. So I guess the best way is to express myself through words on Thatsitdotcom.

Firstly, I would like to congratulate all the members who are graduating. Thank you so much for your support in Council. Thank you so much for being there. Good lucks for your future endeavors.

Secondly, I would like to thank all the ex-exco members and the logistics team for their past support and significant contributions to the Council. Thank you so much. Your selfless sacrifices have made the Council a better place. Especially Shubhpreet, I know it is kind of difficult to work with me sometimes because we have such different thinking, culture and mindset but I seriously enjoyed your perspective on things. I would say, these ex-excos, who are very vocal, really helped in contributing to a dynamic and diversified team, thus allowing Shubhpreety and I to make a more rounded decision. Seriously, I am sorry if I had offended any of you in any ways but I meant no harm. I, after all, come in peace. Lol.

I would also like to thank the members for their support and contributions to Council. Thank you for being their for your department and thank you for your small gestures and initiatives which makes me think that you, are what drove the excos into doing what is required of us to do so. Seriously, members are part of the motivation that drives the excos into wanting to do more for the Council. I've heard this phrase from somewhere which says:

"A country is not a country without its people."

And clearly, Council is not a Council without the support of its members, and the desire and passion to fulfill the mission of the Council. Though things may be hard and difficult to achieve at times, the encouragement and fulfilment of the members are able to keep the spirit and fire burning within our mission, thus allowing the excos to try their best. Let's continue to embrace, understand and cooperate with each other. TEAMWORK!

I've learnt so much for the past one and a half year that it would take at least a few hours to run down all the learnings. However, this afternoon, while I was listening to a forum where Obama is giving a Q&A in Shanghai, I came to recall a certain learning which I feel I ought to share. Obama (whom I really feel is an ambassador of freedom) mentioned that information are so fast nowadays that he sometimes hate to review criticisms on him. However, he believes that criticism are what forces a free and improving society. Likewise in Council, I had learnt and received criticisms which, despite being disappointed, I have come to learn to embrace it. Like everything in life, there are opposites to everything.

Constructive criticisms force us to learn and improve.

Finally, I would also like to congratulate the new excos on taking up the leadership positions. I would further like to encourage the fellow members to try their best, if possible to look for a spot in the excos position because it is really a different learning experience.

Dear new excos, the show is yours to run now.
